When can a minor sign a waver and use equipment with adult supervision.

Depends on what insurance says. Does an equipment have a minimum age for use no matter the supervision? A sewing machine is different than a CNC machine.

What's the minimum supervision 1 minor = 1 adult required? is it different for different age/maturity? Who adjudicates?

What do you do if the kid breaks the rules and there's no guardian on premise or a kid is left without an adult?

I just left it as requiring close supervision.

'on premise' may be more than the building because of outdoor activities.

Fairness and Safety

I read this, "It's not fair to hold people accountable for safety when they don't know what it means." and I'm not sure how to interpret this. If someone is doing something unsafe, then we have to accountable, even if they didn't know it was unsafe. How we hold them accountable can vary - make them take a class, deny access to a machine or area, ask them to leave now, suspend their membership, etc. It may not be "fair" but we all have a responsibility to work safely, whatever that means. We're expecting and holding people accountable to be safe in a variety of ways. We should tell them what it means. of course if people aren't being safe we're ultimately accountable as an organization. I added it because I wanted to soften the tone by providing reasons we're doing things. Perhaps there's another way to do that at that point. Sleeping

some makerspaces prohibit it (ie lying prone sleep) and not prohibit napping (sitting asleep). Can we avoid til we have to add it?
