This is my personal sandbox page for doing experiments with mediawiki features and for developing draft pages while they're so drafty that I'm not ready to have other editors jump in. If you read the stuff below and come up with ideas for changes, please suggest those changes in the discussion (talk) page for this page. If you're thinking about creating destination pages for redlinks (i.e., apparent links with no existing destination page) in draft pages below, beware that page names in the link text may only be tentative place-holders and likely to change. (That's just one of the things I mean when I describe such drafts as drafty. Another is that some of my draft text may be highly in need of checking by people with greater domain knowledge.) --JSaxe

MN Metal Hot Shop

Our metal hot shop (or simply hot shop) is where we keep metalworking tools that generate lots of heat, sparks, and/or dust. ...

Safety

Safety information specific to the Metal Hot Shop goes here, along with link to "MN Safety". This should include reference to fire extinguishers and fire blanket(s). To do: Get this info from Ginger.

Welding

• Millermatic 220 Welding Machines (×5)
• Lincoln Electric Square Wave TIG 335 (not yet available)
• Miller CP-250 TS (not yet available)

Also include stuff about welding tables, light screens, helmets, gloves, coats, and aprons.

Plasma Cutting

• CNC plasma cutter
• Handheld plasma cutter

Grinding (and Buffing), Sanding, Sawing

• Angle grinders
• Bench grinders/buffers
• Bench grinder and disk sander for tungsten
• Saws

Note: Our K. O. Lee S718 6" x 19" Surface Grinder is in the Metal Cold Shop. [Mention any saws in the cold shop here.] Saws and sanders for wood are, of course, in the woodshop.

Media Blasting

• Cabinet media blaster
• Handheld media blaster

Forging

Currently, our forging area is set up for cold forging, though we hope eventually to support hot forging. We have ... [more TBW].

• Sand casting equipment

• Pallet lifter [Or does that go with grinding, etc., since it's normally stored under the angle grinding table.]

What should we say about hand tools and about work-holding devices on this page, and where on the page should we say it? (BTW, to what extent to hand tools have fixed/specified homes, and to what extent do they float around the hot shop or beyond?)
