Device Tracking in the Future

I think we need a section like this:

Adding new Green devices

Devices with Green tags have been included in the overall calculation of electrical load at the makerspace. It is possible to move devices from Reg tag to Green tag status. The process varies by the electrical load of the device and the expected duty cycle of the device.

Low Power Devices

THIS SECTION IS A DRAFT ONLY. IT IS NOT APPROVED BY JOHN.

Low power devices are those that are labeled to continuously draw less than XXXX amps of power at 120 volts. Or devices that draw up to XXXX amps of power at 120 volts, but will be operated at a duty cycle of less than 20% (for example, a power drill or a cordless power tool charging station or a clothes iron).

Moderate Power Devices

THIS SECTION IS A DRAFT ONLY. IT IS NOT APPROVED BY JOHN.

Devices that draw more than XXXX amps of power at 120 volts must be used carefully. Devices in this class must be connected to a circuit that is not used by more than two other devices that have moderate power draw.

High Power Devices

THIS SECTION IS A DRAFT ONLY. IT IS NOT APPROVED BY JOHN.

Devices that draw more than XXXX amps of power at 120 volts must be used on a separate circuit. Two of these devices may not share the same circuit at the same time. Devices in this category are typically assigned a specific plug outlet that they must use.

Two or more of these devices that operate infrequently may be assigned to the same circuit, but they must not be connected to the same circuit. Any arrangement like this must be documented on the machines and on the wall socket that they are assigned to. For example a sign adjacent to the wall socket might say, "this circuit is for use of the band saw or the miter saw; only one may be plugged in at a time."
