Maker Nexus uses power code tags to control loads on the electrical system. All Maker Nexus owned devices powered by flexible cords and plugs must be certified and approved before they can be plugged in.

Color codes

Power cords at Maker Nexus are tagged with one of three colors:

Green

Devices having green tagged power cords are certified and approved and can be plugged in and operated.

Red

Devices having red tagged power cords are not certified or approved and can not be plugged in or operated.

Yellow

Devices having yellow tagged power cords are not owned by Maker Nexus but have low power demands and may be plugged in while the owner is on the premises. Examples are: USB chargers, laptop power cables, etc.

Power strips

Do you tag the power strip, or do you tag each devise plugged into the power strip? Answer: tag each device plugged into the power strip.

Removable power cords

Many devices, such as computer monitors, use removable IEC 320 C13 power cords. How is this tagged? By attaching the tag to the device itself.
