This page contains links to all the shop sectors. Those pages have information about equipment in each.

Be approved to use the equipment

Our equipment can be both dangerous and delicate. Before we can let you run a machine by yourself, we need to make sure you can operate it safely and correctly.

Classes

If you have never used a piece of equipment, or feel that you need a brush up on it, we offer single session Equipment Training classes to take you from "I know nothing" to "let me at it!". You can view all of our classes and sign up on our Classes Page.

Classes are offered periodically depending on the tool, from once a month to multiple times a week. If you can't find a class time that works with your schedule, please drop a message in the #class-requests channel in Slack, or email training @ makernexus.org. We'll work to find a time when an instructor is available.

Shop Areas

In each area we give some information about the specific machines we have. Some pages have more information than others. If you know about these machines, we invite you to edit this wiki to add more information. Click on the area below to go to that page.

Template

If you are interested in adding documentation for equipment in the Maker Nexus Sunnyvale Makerspace, please use the following format to do so as much as is feasible.

Other

Paint Booth - We do not, and will not, have one. The rules, permits, and regulations necessary for setting one up are very onerous. If using VOC based paints the EPA requires recording and reporting of every ounce of material used and can fine up to $10k/day for failure to track. This tracking is easy in a production environment but extremely difficult in a shared use space like MN.

A note on Power cord tags
